Sivamani<\/b>\u00a0commonly known by his stage name\u00a0Drums Sivamani<\/b>, is an Indian percussionist.<\/p>\n

He plays many instruments including drums octoban, darbuka, udukai, ghatam and kanjira. He began drumming at the age of seven. Sivamani started his musical career at the age of 11. He was inspired by Noel Grant and Billy Cobham. He has played for M.S.Viswanathan, Illayaraja, A R Rahman and others. In 1990, he shared the stage with Billy Cobham at Mumbai’s Rang Bhavan.<\/p>\n

During the early stage of his career, he collaborated with T. Rajendar for many of his music compositions. The\u00a0tabla player\u00a0Zakir Hussain invited him\u00a0to share the stage with himself and\u00a0Trilok Gurtu.at a fusion concert in Mumbai. Sivamani has since collaborated with several musicians including\u00a0Louis Banks.\u00a0He has done world tours with\u00a0A. R. <\/span>Rahman\u00a0and collaborated with him for\u00a0Bombay Dreams. He has also been a part of a musical group called\u00a0Shraddha<\/i> which comprises\u00a0Shankar Mahadevan, Hariharan,\u00a0U. Srinivas and\u00a0Loy Mendonsa.<\/p>\n

Sivamani is part of bands called “Asia Electrik” and “Silk & Shrada.”<\/p>\n

Sivamani has performed in\u00a0Dubai, Moscow, New York,\u00a0Doha and\u00a0Toronto. During the\u00a0Mumbai Festival \u00a02005,\u00a0Coca-Cola<\/span>\u00a0India invited him to perform at the Limca Fresh Face 2005 event, where he created melody from\u00a0Limca bottles.<\/p>\n

He performed drumming during the IPL Championships in 2008 and 2010. He is affiliated with the\u00a0Chennai Super Kings\u00a0team, but gained recognition through his role as\u00a0A. R. Rahman\u2019s lead percussionist.<\/p>\n

He was conferred with\u00a0Padma Shri in 2009.<\/p>\n
